I am proposing that we have a diploma that students are working towards achieving at the end of yr 7. This can easily run alongside the new rewards system which will be in place by Sept.
There will be 3 levels, bronze, silver and gold and to achieve them studens would need to receive a specified number of points from their OM teacher or anyone else on the OM team. These could be divided up into different categories and they would need to achieve in each category to be awarded the diploma. To get a silver they must also participate in some extra curricular activities and for a gold, they must also do something outside of school
If anyone would be prepared to work on this with me to finalise details, I would be very happy to have the help – just email me

There are 30 laptops available to use for use in OM lessons. However, we do not have priority for these over other subjects and so they will need to be booked via Bruse in the usual way. Kath and I are in discussion with the ICT dept to see whether we can have a certain amount of lessons where we do have priority, but at the moment, nothing has been decided

Kelly and jean will make up book boxes for us on the topics we are studying – we will need to book these for individual lessons through the Opening Minds booking system (still to be designed!). We can use these boxes in the library or in our rooms.
Other resources held in the library which concern the current topic will only be available to students as over-night loans or as reference materials – this is so they are availbale to the greatest number of students possibel
I have also arranged to transfer money to the library so that students can use the photocopier to copy articles etc that they might need.

Students will need to access resources from the library during lessons. I have agreed the following procedures with Kelly:
1. Any yr 7 student who has their Opening Minds card with them (issued during the first week or so at school – produced by DDO) can use the library for 10 minutes
2. If a student is likely to need longet than that, they must have a separate slip issued by you – these are designed and will be put in for printing in the next couple of days – all you need to do is add how long you want them to be in the library and initial it
